A simple route to stibaindoles, reaction (a), leads to monomeric 1-chloro- and 1-phenylstibaindoles in yields of 71–86%. Interest in heterocyclic compounds of heavy main-group elements has increased dramatically in recent years owing to their uses in materials science.
