Welcome to Our Newest Members!
We have recently added a few new members to our team. We would like to welcome Dr. Nick White who recently obtained his Ph.D from Colorado State University with Prof. Tomislav Rovis and Dr. Gary (Hu) Zhang who is joining us after completing his Ph.D. studies at Harvard University with Prof. Eric Jacobsen. A warm welcome to our newest graduate students, Frieda Zhang, Joey Dennis, Richard Liu, and Mike Gribble! And to MIT undergraduate Renee Zhao!

Bucky Bowl 2015
The group recently went out to celebrate SLB’s birthday at Sacco’s Bowl Haven in Davis Square. As it was the day before Halloween, we all got into the spirit in costumes. Congrats to this year’s champion of the “Bucky” Cup 2015, Tim Senter! And the best costume award went to Jeff Bandar. Happy 60th Steve!

Buchwald-Haber Family Fund
Prof. Stephen L. Buchwald and his wife, Susan Haber established the Buchwald-Haber Family fund to support graduate students in the Department of Chemistry, with preference for students studying organic chemistry. Click here to donate.

Steve awarded 2016 Nichols Medal
Stephen L. Buchwald has been selected to receive the 2016 Wiliam H. Nichols Medal by the New York Seciton of the American Chemical Society for “landmark contributions in organometallic chemistry, ligand design, and catalysis.” This prestigious award was first established in 1902 and awarded annually to encourage original research in chemistry. The Nichols Medal is the oldest award presented by a section of the ACS and will be awarded to Steve at a Symposium and Dinner in March 2016.

Aaron, Hong Geun, Jim and Anni’s recent paper on “Dosage delivery of sensitive reagents enables glove-box-free synthesis” in Nature has been highlighted in several news articles in MIT News, C&E News, Forbes, Chemistry World, Phys.org, and Bioportfolio.
