Camille Dreyfus Professor of Chemistry Stephen L. Buchwald has been named the 2017 recipient of the ACS Carothers Award from the Delaware Section of the American Chemical Society. Professor Buchwald will accept the award and give a lecture at the group's April Section Meeting, when a banquet dinner and reception will be held in his honor. The Carothers Lecture Award is sponsored by the Delaware Section and by local chemical companies, and consists of a bronze sculpture and a $2,000 cash prize. It was established in 1976 in memory of Wallace H. Carothers, one of the founders of modern polymer chemistry. The award is given annually and is intended to honor scientific innovators who have made outstanding contributions and advances in industrial applications of chemistry.
